(Note: We are currently in the process of disaffiliating this church from the United Methodist Church).
We are Methodist Christians in West Texas dedicated to the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
We are a place for all to come to worship, experience, and know God - with open hearts, open minds, and open doors.
Morning Worship Service - 11 a.m. Sunday
Sunday School (children) - 10 a.m. Sunday
Our Church History
The First United Methodist Church of Monahans was founded on February 17, 1930 with fifteen charter members. At the time, Monahans had a population of about 1,118. Part-time pastors served the church until September 1931, when Rev. Hershel S. Burgin became the first appointed minister of the church. The present sanctuary was completed on March 16, 1952, with Rev. W.R. Houston as pastor. We are currently in the El Paso District, New Mexico Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
